Ketchikan, Alaska

We were up early this morning to make the most of our three hours in Ketchikan (yes, we have made it to Alaska).

The ferry terminal is three miles north of town, so we caught a taxi to the town center.  We had a marvelous cup of coffee (and blueberry muffin) with the locals at 55 North Coffee before exploring the town a little bit.

Ketchikan is a fishing town with a colorful history of the industries (prostitution) that supported the town in old times.

After coffee and a quick tour, we walked back to the ferry in time for the 10 AM departure.  We have hopes today of seeing some whales and water wildlife.  The air is fresh, the scenes are wonderful, and we are happy to be here.  We have short stops today at Wrangell and Petersburg before arriving in Juneau at 4:30 AM tomorrow.
